Settled Scheme - Edgehill Theological College Methodist Church in Ireland

In June 2022, the Commission settled a Scheme under section 32 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008, in relation to The Governors of Edgehill Theological College, Belfast.

The Scheme:

• alters the trusts on which the Edgehill College buildings are held so that they can be used for the general purposes of the Methodist Church in Ireland.
• retrospectively ratifies the Church’s use of part of the College buildings for Connexional Offices.
• transfers the other endowments of Edgehill College to the Church’s trustees, to be held for the purpose of theological education in connection with the Methodist Church in Ireland.
• effects the dissolution of Edgehill Governors.

The Order giving effect to the Scheme was made by the Department for Communities and came into effect on 26 November 2022.
