Survey aims to understand drop in charity income

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland recently published its Charity Register 2025 Report, revealing a significant decline in income reported by charities during 2024-2025 compared to the previous year.

The analysis in the report covers data from the beginning of charity registration in December 2013 through to 31 July 2025. The findings highlighted an unexplained drop in income for 2024-25, prompting the Commission to seek direct feedback from charities on their experiences.

Charities selected for the survey will have received an email with a link to participate. The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete.

“We know trustees, staff and volunteers are already under significant strain,” said Ann Breslin, Policy Development Manager at the Commission.  “However, your input is vital to help us understand the challenges facing the sector and to inform future support.”

Participation is voluntary and charities can opt out if they choose. If you have received the survey link, please take a few minutes to share your experience. Your feedback will help shape a clearer picture of the pressures on Northern Ireland’s charity sector.
