Commission hosts annual public meeting

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland welcomed a full audience of sector leaders, charity representatives and members of the public to its annual public meeting at Malone House, Belfast, last week.

Attendees received updates on the Commission’s ongoing work, priorities for the year ahead and key developments shaping the regulatory landscape for charities across Northern Ireland.

A highlight of the event was a keynote address from guest speaker Matthew Smith KC, a leading barrister from Maitland Chambers in London. Matthew offered expert insights on managing internal conflicts within charities, offering practical guidance that may prove valuable to trustees and charity representatives across the sector. His address was recorded and is available to view on the Commission’s YouTube channel: Presentation on managing internal conflicts in charities

Chief Charity Commissioner, Gerard McCurdy, also thanked those in attendance, expressing his appreciation for the strong engagement from the sector. He added that he hoped participants found the session both informative and constructive.
