The direct benefits that flow from purposes of Newtownbutler Mens/Community Shed are that facilities and support are provided that assist with delivery of opportunities for the members of the community to meet for education and recreational activities thereby increasing their health & wellbeing, skills, knowledge, and levels of social

interaction. The benefits of Newtownbutler Mens/Community Shed activities are evidenced by measurement of facilities and activities provided, usage of these facilities and numbers attending activities. There is no harm flowing from the purposes of Newtownbutler Mens/Community Shed. The beneficiaries of Newtownbutler Mens/Community Shed are persons aged over 18 living within this community and the wider surrounding area. The only private benefit flowing from the group’s purposes are that Newtownbutler Mens/Community Shed trustees can participate in all activities and use the facilities provided. This is incidental and necessary to ensure that all eligible members of the community can potentially avail of these and benefit.

What your organisation does

In furtherance of the above purposes, but not further or otherwise the Group may: a) open a bank account, obtain, collect and receive money by way of grants, donations, bequests, legacies or other lawful method and shall conform to any relevant requirements of the law. b) provide, maintain, equip or assist in the provision, maintenance and

equipment of premises and facilities designed to carry out the objects of the Group. c) co-operate with and support other organisations with similar purposes. d) recruit and train volunteers with the relevant skills to carry out the purposes of the Group. e) provide, assist in providing or secure the provision of safe and practical facilities and practical assistance for the beneficiaries or facilities for the benefit of the general public in the area of benefit. f) employ and pay any person or persons NOT being a trustee to supervise, organise and carry on the work of the Group and make all reasonable and necessary provision for the payment of remuneration to employees. g) do all such other lawful things as are necessary to further the purposes of the Group.

Charitable purposes

The Group is established to promote personal development, positive mental health and physical activities for the benefit of individuals from Newtownbutler village and surrounding area, to advance the health, well-being and education of its members by providing a safe and happy environment where its members can, in the company of others, (i) pursue hobbies, pastimes and interests, (ii) learn new skills, practice and pass on old skills, (iii) promote their own and other men’s health and well-being, (iv) promote the mentoring of younger men, (v) enhance their well-being via a holistic model of health encompassing physical, mental and social aspects.
