... [more] [less]What your organisation does
The organisation provides free counselling/talking therapy to people of 12 years and upwards who need mild - moderate level support for poor mental health. There is no upper age limit for the service. Our fully trained counsellors provide support for a range of issues such as anxiety, mild depression, stress, relationships, bereavement, health
concerns, suicidal ideation etc. We signpost individuals to other relevant services as required and are registered as a Safe Place for people who experience domestic violence. We reach out to groups and workplaces to provide mental health and wellbeing support through workshops and short talks, as well as critical incident support in workplaces. We work with other voluntary and statutory organisations to increase suicide prevention via wellbeing events and information sharing and we promote the education of volunteers in recognising and dealing with suicidal tendencies. From august 2024 we have commenced a Listening Ear service to those who are isolated in the community with the aims to reduce isolation, make connections and build relationships, increase confidence, self-esteem and motivation.
