Public benefits

a) The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include providing immediate and essential support to individuals and communities, fostering community cohesion and promoting long term wellbeing for residents. b) The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include improved physical and mental health in the local population, decreasing mortality

rates during times of crisis or incident. c) The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include advancing education, reconciliation, and reducing conflict, which cultivates a culture of learning, empathy, and peacebuilding within Dungiven and surrounding areas. d) The direct benefits flowing this purpose includes fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance among all members of society, regardless if their circumstances, background, age or ethnicity. Leading to equal opportunities where everyone can contribute positively to society. a) This is demonstrated through a well-coordinated and efficient response to alleviate immediate hardships or community crisis, reducing vulnerability and putting into action measures to improve short and long-term recovery. This will be identified through feedback from residents, working with relevant authorities and minimising injuries or damage to infrastructure. b) This is demonstrated through improved health indicators (examples will include oral health, blood pressure, BMI, signs of poor mental health), increased access to healthcare provision, reduced mortality rates, feedback and testimonials from beneficiaries. c) This is demonstrated through the number of programmes and services offered by the group annually, the volunteer and staff network within the group and their relevant skills and experience, and the views of residents. d) This is demonstrated through reduced incidents and hate crime, increased community participation and getting feedback from residents. There is no harm arising from our purposes. The benefit is for inhabitants within our catchment area of Dungiven and surrounding environs. Charity trustees (committee members) are usually also residents of the local area and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure it is provided to all beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Dungiven Community Response Group will provide a wide range of activities to support and enhance wellbeing and safety. These will include health and wellness support, community safety support, social services initiatives, environmental initiatives, education and training programmes, and cultural and recreational activities. Initially, we will

work from rented premises, using facilitators and volunteers to deliver all services. Healthy living activities will be delivered partnership with cross-sector providers to tackle obesity, unhealthy lifestyles and emotional wellbeing brought about through high levels of social deprivation. Examples of activities will include smoking cessation programmes, weight management and weight loss programmes, general heart health, physical activity programmes, workplace wellbeing events, school health and wellbeing events, resilience and compassion workshops and more. We will facilitate immediate advice and support services for disadvantaged people who struggle with worklessness, caring, financial difficulties, a lack of basic skills, healthier living and more. This will include addiction support (drug and alcohol), counselling services, mediation and other needs-led services. Support will include mental health support, wellness workshops, neighbourhood watch of vocational training. It will be our aim to provide workshops such as cooking programmes, nutrition classes and programmes to encourage health and affordable eating. Volunteering opportunities will be provided, along with the opportunity to gain new skills and experience in a community setting. It will be our aim to create a skilled and diverse volunteer base and provide development opportunities through training, experience, skills, or employability knowledge.

Charitable purposes

The association objectives are as follows: (a) To provide relief of human suffering and distress from disaster on urban and rural lowland environs and on inland waters (b) The protection and preservation of health and the saving of lives (c) The advancement of education, conflict resolution and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and other countries as the Directors may from time to time think fit (hereinafter called the "area of benefit") through the provision of search and rescue teams, training, equipment, advice, support and training. (d) To promote inclusivity, good community relations, social cohesion, racial harmony, equality and diversity.
