Charitable Purpose: Education and training The benefits arising from this purpose include the enhanced educational and skills of the people from the local area who avail of the training opportunities promoted by the Derramore Training and Development Association. People taking part will increase their confidence and hopefully this will motivate

them to continue further on their personal learning pathway. A rise in individual confidence will produce an improved community sense of esteem as more people take up the opportunities. Charitable Purpose: Citizenship and community development The benefits arising from this purpose are that in the socially deprived locality of the Derramore Training and Development Association the capacity of individuals to act in furtherance of community objectives will be enhanced. The lives of more vulnerable and the disadvantaged including the elderly, the economically disadvantaged and families facing hardship will be enhanced. Young people particularly those who have not fared too well within the education system will get renewed opportunities to blossom. Building capacity helps fuel the drive to create community structures that can deliver for local people. Community development flows from these twin elements of capacity and infrastructure Education and training The benefits will be demonstrated through collecting data on the numbers attending as beginners & those progressing to higher levels of achievement. We will evaluate the data as well as conducting post event evaluations to give us a sense of what we are doing well and what needs to be improved. Any private benefits arising are incidental and will serve to further increase the capacity of the group organising the event. Citizenship and community development. The benefits will be demonstrated by the number of new community initiatives being promoted / supported in the area, of new collaborations at personal and community level, strengthening of local and wider networks and voluntary engagement in structures such as the Council’s DEAs. Any private benefits are incidental and will serve to enhance community capacity. The benefits of the charity will flow to all irrespective of class, creed or background. What your organisation does

The group carries out surveys and ongoing conversations with people of all ages in the area in relation to training and community development to help us identify and respond to emerging need in our local community. The group the provides opportunities based on this analysis to develop the capacity and skills of the members of the area and in

particular those deemed to be from social and economically disadvantaged communities. For example the group offers a combination of training events and social activities such as the twice weekly Good Morning Hub, chat and support , health talks, gentle exercises, arts and crafts, flower arranging, walking/talking to address the issue of lonliness in our area. We also provide learning &community development opportunities such as First Aid, Basic ICT, Community BBQs, table quizzes, cultural trips, history lectures, placenames workshops, indoor games and activities for younger children, Irish Language activities , art workshops, cultural workshops, storytelling, music sessions, health information sessions, community information and talks, historical and reminiscence workshops, yoga, keep fit for boys and men, ,keep fit for girls and women, walking groups, writing group, genealogy group, townland workshops, small festivals ,parent and child groups and Gaelic pastimes and games

Charitable purposes

The objects of the group are to advance citizenship and community development for the benefit of the inhabitants of Derramore and the immediate outlying rural areas of South Armagh area by providing education and vocational training or any related activity which is charitable in nature.
