Public benefits

[What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes?] Our Programmes are designed to improve the mental health and wellbeing of clients to enable them to develop networks which will support them as they integrate back into the community. It gives the community a safe space to get together with other people and talk about issues

that affect their mental health and low moods - our Programmes help the clients understand their mental health and how to improve wellbeing without medication. [How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated?] An external Social Return on Investment was carried out in relation to similar Programmes we previously ran. It showed an cost saving to the health service as it generated a social value of 1:22. Current clients report: 92% improvement in their mental health 81% are no longer isolated 83% confidence/self-esteem has increased. I asked our clients what the consequences would be if we couldn't continue: 'If I didn't have my group my mental health would take a dive and I would end up back in hospital. I don't want to self-harming again as that was what I was doing in my life to cope' 'I would be stuck in the house again - my mood wouldn't be good - I'd lose my connections - my health would drop again, my tremors would return, I'd lose my speech I wouldn't be in a good way. 'I have made friends, I've something to get out of bed for - learning new stuff. I am looking after myself more. I have had my 1st shower in 3 months. [Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes?] No [Who are the charity's beneficiaries?] Our beneficiaries will be women and men in the Antrim area who are social isolated resulting in poor mental health, low confidence and self-esteem. [Is there any private benefit flowing from any of the purposes? Is it incidental and necessary?] No

What your organisation does

We were previously under the umbrella of Oasis Caring in Action in Antrim and were funded through the Mental Health Support Fund. During this 2 year period we worked with over 750 clients transforming their lives and offering Programmes tackling their mental health issues. Unfortunately this funding ceased 31/12/23 and the Centre closed but the

clients' needs remain the same. We are therefore setting up this new charity to continue the work previously undertaken in Antrim and tackle mental health issues by embedding training, advice, support and therapeutic activities into each Programme. The Programmes will be designed to improve our client's mental health and wellbeing to enable them to develop networks which will support them as they integrate back into the community. We have established successful partnerships which are very keen to support our new charity going forward and provide funding for our Programmes; Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council seed funding and Good Relations Funding; Community Development Health Network - Building Community Pharmacy Programmes; Northern Trust individual session training; Triangle Housing Association - Community Bridge Funding; National Lottery - Awards for All to name a few.
