Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from Brackenagh Busy Bees playgroup include providing a positive and supportive learning environment for young children living in the Mourne area to grow, learn and thrive. These benefits encompass various aspects of a child's development and can have life-long positive effects. With this in mind, some of the key

benefits include improved cognitive development such as early literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills, all of which are essential in preparing children for formal education. What’s more, through providing opportunities for young children to interact with their peers in a structured setting they are able to progress their Personal, Social, and emotional skills such as sharing, turn taking and cooperation. As a result of this they are able to develop emotional intelligence as they learn to express and manage their emotions in a supportive setting. Another direct benefit gained from preschool education is the expansion of language and communication skills through exposure to a language rich environment. Through listening to stories, engaging in conversations, singing songs and taking part in interactive activities, each young child is able to express themselves verbally and enhance language proficiency. In addition to this, by offering a well-balanced play-based curriculum that includes a variety of physical activities, Busy Bees playgroup provides young children with the opportunity to progress their gross and fine motor skills such as drawing, cutting and running, contributing significantly to their overall physical health and development. Investing in high-quality care and education in Brackenagh Busy Bees Playgroup not only benefits the holistic development of each individual child but also has a broader positive impact on families, the community and society as a whole. In summary it lays down the foundations for lifelong learning, success, and overall well-being. The benefits identified are evidenced through verbal feedback from parents, parent questionnaires, parent-teacher interviews, regular committee meetings, annual inspections, progress reports and child study observations. This purpose does not lead to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are families living in the Mourne area who have young children aged from 2yrs and 10mths to primary school age. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose of our organisation. Beneficiaries of Brackenagh Busy Bees Playgroup are the children and parents who attend our setting living in the Mourne area. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Brackenagh Busy Bees is a non-funded playgroup whose purpose is to provide an essential service to families in the Mourne area. We are a small rural committee run playgroup situated at the foot of the Mourne Mountains providing Early Years Education to children aged 2 years and 10 months until primary school age. We aim to provide high quality care

and education provision that enhances the development and well-being of pre-school aged children through a well organised and balanced play-based curriculum. By introducing a flexible, child led learning environment that nurtures the holistic development of each individual child, Busy Bees Playgroup provides a positive foundation for lifelong learning that extends beyond the early years. In order to create a supportive and collaborative learning environment, we ensure to maintain open lines of communication with parents and encourage parental involvement through regular updates and events e.g. parent-teacher interviews, family fun days and storytelling sessions. By fostering a caring and supportive attitude towards parents and caregivers we are able to create a warm and welcoming environment where parents and children feel safe, valued and welcome. In order to create a positive learning environment for young children to grow, learn and thrive, we believe effective communication, teamwork and a shared commitment to the overall well-being of children are all essential components to the successful running of a preschool staff team. As a result of this, we ensure to hold regular staff and committee meetings, maintain up to date staff training, avail of further training opportunities and provide a supportive role to parents and colleagues. By incorporating these essential elements into our Busy Bees programme, we are laying down the foundations necessary for an enriching early learning experience that not only supports the developmental needs of each individual child but also contributes to their overall well-being.
