The direct benefits flowing from purpose 1 “To advance amateur sport through the provision of local football club in the Cusher District Electoral Area” by encouraging participation in amateur sport activities; providing members with suitable competition; assisting members to improve their personal sporting standards; organising amateur football

locally in Markethill and Cusher DEA. The direct benefits will improve the participation of the community in healthy recreational activities linked to sport specifically football. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes improvement in physical and emotional health and well-being as a result of participation in football and other recreational football. This includes raised esteem and confidence, improved aerobic capacity and development of physical skills. The direct benefits flowing from Purpose 2 “To promote the playing of association football by the provision of facilities, training, and equipment in the Cusher District Electoral Area.” Participants benefit from healthier lifestyles, wellbeing and social inclusion through sport. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes improvement in physical and emotional health and well-being as a result of participation in football and other recreational football. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3 “To advance amateur sport which promotes healthy lifestyles and mental wellbeing in the Cusher District Electoral Area.” The direct benefits are to enhance the health and well-being of people in Cusher DEA. The benefits identified are demonstrated through the evaluation of our activities, programmes and services through players, club members and AGM meetings and with other stakeholders. This includes gathering feedback via a range of means such as 1-2-1 interviews, group discussions or focus groups, comment cards, surveys, and questionnaires around the benefits of activity provided. We also monitor participant numbers within sessions, growth in membership, retention into other programmes etc. to further reference the value and impact of our provision and to develop beneficial future services. There is no harm rising from our purposes. The beneficiaries of the purposes are people living in the Markethill area, Cusher DEA and across the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area. There is no private benefit from our purposes.

What your organisation does

Markethill Swifts Football Club Limited is a community orientated amateur football club who aim to provide sport participation opportunities in Markethill based in Cusher DEA. The club promote the playing of association football by providing of facilities, training, and equipment for local people to participate while adopting healthy lifestyles and

improving mental wellbeing. The key aims of the club are to provide modern fit for purpose playing and changing facilities that will provide added value with community space for other groups and organisations. The club aspire to add social value to the local community by working in partnership with other sports clubs, schools, community groups and youth organisations. Markethill Swifts is a growing amateur football club who provide opportunities for local people to realise sporting potential within an amateur environment. The club have secured a long-term lease to develop the facilities located at Ashgrove in Markethill Club. The club have around 250 playing members having grown from two senior adult teams with approximately 30 players, now having 17 teams playing regularly, which includes three senior teams, 14 junior teams inclusive of boys and girls aged 5 to 17 years of age. The club activity is supported by around 60 volunteers. We have added new teams such as a female under 18 team and an Over 35s men’s team to accommodate the recreational player. The youth teams operate multiple noncompetitive Small Sided Games Squads and have teams at ages 12 to 18 taking part in youth leagues. All of the club teams train weekly. Markethill Swifts hold a number of seasonal activities such as summer schemes, Halloween, and Easter camps, as well as run a number of intervention programmes throughout the year for older teenagers. Markethill Swifts operates 'an open policy' and has a strong track record in delivering programmes and activities in this area.

The charity’s objects are specifically restricted to the following: For the public benefit and without distinction of age, sex, race, disability, political, religious, or other opinion and are: (1) To advance amateur sport through the provision of local football club in the Cusher District Electoral Area. (2) To promote the playing of association football by the provision of facilities, training, and equipment in the Cusher District Electoral Area. (3) To advance amateur sport which promotes healthy lifestyles and mental wellbeing in the Cusher District Electoral Area.
