Public benefits

The benefits arising from our purpose are as follows; 1. Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school. 2. Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advancement of education of the pupils. 3. Maintain continued education links with past pupils and

the Derrylatinee School Diaspora spread all over the world. The Parent Support Group liaise with the School principal and the volunteers within the parent support group to identify requirements of the school pupils and community. The requirements are listed, discussed and prioritized at the AGM. The PSG assign tasks and create project teams as required with timelines, responsible people and indicative costs for each aim and benefit. For example last year the principal identified a requirement to have an area for small focus groups or classes for the pupils and community. The PSG agreed to put a project team in place to raise funds and renovate, redecorate and make good the Old school building. The PSG organized a fundraising hike of Slieve Donard and used the funds to enable the required works on the old school building for the benefit of the pupils, staff and wider community of Derrylatinee. There is no harm arising from our purposes. The beneficiaries are the pupils, staff, families, and diaspora of Derrylatinee Primary School. There is no private benefit from our purposes.

Derrylatinee Parent Support group support the local school by meeting with the principal to discuss if there are additional educational opportunities or voluntary support that the Derrylatinee Parent Support can provide to the school or its environs. Derrylatinee Parent Support group organize fundraising events to enable them to raise funds that are then used to purchase educational resources or equipment for the children of the school. Derrylatinee Parent Support group also organize events which promote: 1. Education 2. Environmental and sustainability awareness 3. Cultural diversity and 4. awareness of activities of the school for the maximum benefit of all patrons and children in the area. The PSG comprises volunteers from a range of sectors and experiences in private and public sector organisation; they share knowledge and learning with the principal and the entire school community on an ongoing basis.
