Carers Unite Carers Support Group

Registered

Charity no. 109866 Date registered. 25/04/2024

Public benefits

The direct benefits from our purposes include carers are less socially isolated and benefit from meeting other carers on a regular, but informal basis which offers them the opportunity to build new friendships and an effective support network. Through education sessions they are more aware of welfare rights, disability rights and their rights as a

carer. Members will benefit from mental health awareness workshops and learning practical skills to help them cope with the stress and difficulties of their daily caring responsibilities. Members can enjoy the informal atmosphere, and gain useful knowledge, skills and support through workshops and outings. They also have the opportunity to attend respite days which gives them a chance to relax and recharge. The benefits are demonstrated through verbal feedback where members have stated that they feel more supported, informed and less stressed; and by the growing numbers of members availing of our support services. There is no harm from our purposes. The beneficiaries are carers in the Portadown area, and their families. There is no private benefit from the purposes.

What your organisation does

Carers Unite Carers Support Group provides information and support to local carers through regular meetings and educational events which allow carers to share experiences and offer mutual support. These events will promote wellbeing and highlight the importance of self-care while caring for others. The charity will develop networks with medical

professionals and other carer support groups. We will also raise awareness of the role of carers in the local community and promote the services of Carers Unite to enable it to grow in membership in Portadown and the surrounding area.
