Public benefits

(i) Increased engagement in the Arts in Northern Ireland, especially in Rural settings. (ii) Benefits for individual audience members including improved mental health and well-being and increased social opportunities. Benefits will be evidenced in a number of ways: (i) Increased engagement in the Arts in Northern Ireland will be evidenced by large

audience numbers at concerts and workshops. (ii) personal individual benefits will be assessed by feedback from audience members and online feedback surveys. There is little risk to harm caused by these purposes. All events will be thoroughly risk assessed, sound levels will be monitored and events will be appropriately staffed to ensure the highest safeguarding. The direct benefit from the purposes will be for children and adults in Northern Ireland. There is no private benefit arising from Newry Chamber Music's purposes.

What your organisation does

Newry Chamber Music carries out its purpose by providing: (i) low cost professional Classical music concerts to people in the community within their local venues. (ii) Professional concert opportunities to care homes and day centres across the Newry, Mourne & Down District to ensure classical music is accessible to everyone in the community. (ii)

Educational opportunities for children and young people through the facilitation of music masterclasses and workshops.

Charitable purposes

(a) Newry Chamber Music will provide professional chamber music concerts for the citizens of Newry and Mourne, South Armagh and Louth on a regular basis (usually 6-8 concerts per annum). Concerts will be performed in a relaxed and all inclusive manner with the ultimate aim of increasing the local audiences’ interest in and enjoyment of classical music. For the most part, concerts will be performed by the resident group known as The Fews Ensemble but guest artists will also be invited from time to time. (b) Give a platform to emerging young artists from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at the beginning of their professional careers (c) Provide occasional masterclasses to local young musicians given by our visiting artists (d) Collaborate with other local arts groups and support local amateur music groups by providing occasional performance opportunities at our concerts (e) Provide community coffee/lunchtime concerts throughout the region of Newry, Mourne and Down to widen access to high quality music in the area
