Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased social and personal skills, such as teamwork and decision-making skills, motivation and self-confidence. Other benefits include enhanced educational attainment and improved physical, emotional and mental well-being leading to a better quality of life for beneficiaries. The above
benefits are evidenced through a number of evaluative means including: recordings and observations of staff members and volunteers; other qualitative data from parents, teachers, and community representatives; quantitative data from programme and project evaluations; the successful completion of training courses and accredited learning; young people becoming Junior Leaders, Volunteers or eventually paid staff; and data from other sources including other service providers both statutory and non-statutory. There is no identifiable harm to any person through the pursuit of the above purpose. The charities beneficiaries are children and young people aged four to twenty-five years in Coalisland and its surrounding area. A private benefit may be gained by a Trustee whose child makes use of the club’s facilities and activities. Trustee’s children access facilities and activities in the same way as other beneficiaries. Trustees may also benefit from ongoing training such as good governance or safeguarding training. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the safe and effective operation of the club. Other volunteers may gain an increased sense of well-being through their involvement with the youth club, however this benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure benefit is provided to beneficiaries. Staff may gain opportunities to be involved in educational or recreational activities. This benefit is also incidental and necessary for the work of the organisation to take place.

The youth club offers a range of development opportunities to include the engagement of young people through programmes which they can not only participate in but also help to design and deliver. Our programmes and activities are responsive to and reflective of the needs of the young people in the Coalisland and wider area which we serve and are
strategically designed to correspond with the curriculum for youth provision. We feel that this approach fosters a greater sense of engagement and buy in from young people which ultimately ensures that the project has a much greater impact in improving the quality of life that they experience.
