Fermanagh Protestant Board of Education

Registered

Charity no. 109656 Date registered. 20/09/2024

Public benefits

The benefits provided by the organisation are the promotion of education through the enhancement of the school curriculum and extra-curricular activities by various means. Some of the endowments are ring-fenced for particular purposes such as the awarding of scholarships to pupils gaining entry to specific universities. Other funds have been

awarded to the trustees without any specific purpose being outlined and the trustees make awards from these by inviting bids from various extra-curricular activities on an annual basis. In many instances this allows for extension of extra-curricular provision into new areas whilst enhancing existing activities through provision of new facilities/ equipment, additional coaching or travel opportunities. It is well known that extra-curricular activities are essential to generate balanced, well rounded pupils who can engage socially with their peers outside of a formal classroom environment. In a school of almost 1000 pupils a wide range of activities is necessary to ensure that all pupils have an opportunity to pursue an activity they enjoy. Benefits can be identified through the increased diversity of activities available, the increase in numbers of pupils participating in activities and recognised success within certain activities. Participation in group activities also helps to promote confidence in pupils. Award of grants to a wide range of extra-curricular activities, utilisation of physical assets in the delivery of education by Enniskillen Royal Grammar School and utilisation of volunteer human resources in the governance of both the Fermanagh Protestant Board of Education and Enniskillen Royal Grammar School. The purposes of the organisation have not been deemed to lead to any harm. Pupils of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School along with some pupils from neighbouring schools who are involved in the school Boat Club which is cross-community, their families and wider local community. No private benefit has been identified in connection with this organisation.
