Public benefits

[What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes?] A number of those who attend our drop-ins have improved their mental health, become more active in the group and the community, undertaken new challenges and felt less intimidated about talking about mental health in general [How can the benefits identified above be

demonstrated?] Several of those who attend our drop-ins are now members of our committee, assist in promoting the group through information days and have undertaken events such as the Omagh Half marathon and 5k walk. We have seen an increase in confidence due to these activities. Still others have spread the word, attended training sessions on various mental health topics and asked friends and family to join our Facebook page resulting in a total membership of over 1,200 including former members of the community living abroad. We are getting people talking more about their mental health. [Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes?] No [Who are the charity's beneficiaries?] Anyone in the community who lives with mental health issues, their friends and family. [Is there any private benefit flowing from any of the purposes? Is it incidental and necessary?] No

What your organisation does

Hold 2 drop-in sessions per week on a Wednesday evening, 7 - 9 pm and Friday morning 11 am to 1 pm where members of the community can attend for tea/coffee and a chat. We provide a safe space for those who attend to socialise with others who have lived experience with mental health. Those that attend can also speak privately to a committee member

for guidance on where to go for further assistance i.e. GP, other organisations We hold regular information days within the community to provide details on what we do and the services we provide. We hold walks on various mental health awareness days in the yearly calendar to raise awareness i.e. Suicide Prevention Day in September We use our Facebook page to encourage members daily by posting positive quotes, helpful suggestions and recommendations on self-care and self-love.
