... [more] [less]What your organisation does
By direct contact with individuals, both in the Christ Within Markethill Centre and the wider communities in Markethill and surrounding areas. Working in harmony with existing voluntary and statutory organisations to ensure that the needs of the local community are met. Enabling access to our centre and the services we can provide to those in
greatest need. Providing feedback to local organisations like the Council, public sector and any other bodies who would normally be contributing to those identified as in need. This ongoing project is promoting a welcoming community which will be achieved by being open to everyone regardless of age, gender, religion etc. There will be a focus on the most vulnerable, isolated individuals / families. This focus will be on those least likely to engage outside their homes and families and those who have recently moved to the local area. The objective being to support them so that they may become active and inclusive within a welcoming local community. The overall objective of the centre is to offer a safe, warm, welcoming and empowering environment. Home visits, coffee mornings, counselling sessions, access to presentations and training from professionals, including volunteers who have expertise and knowledge to share. A foodbank has already been established. Drop in opportunities for young people to watch programmes eg sporting events. This allows for interaction with relevant volunteers.
