Groomsport. 5 Promoting volunteering. 6 Advancing citizenship and community development. 7 Promoting social inclusion 1 Number of people who participate in activities such as attending talks and exhibitions and taking walking tours. 2 Increased knowledge of the Eagle Wing and its importance in the history of the Scots-Irish in the USA, both locally, and if possible, internationally, by holding Eagle Wing-related events, including possibly reviving the Eagle Wing festival. 3 A plan, agreed with Ards and North Down Council, for the future of Cockle Row Cottages as a resource for village residents and visitors. 4 Participation by Groomsport in the "Ulster in Bloom" competition. 5 Providing opportunities for village residents, and others, to volunteer in activities related to Cockle Row cottages, Groomsport in Bloom and other activities. 6 When appropriate, enabling residents to be actively involved in discussions about the future of the village, including responding to applications for planning permission. 7 By showing that Discover Groomsport's activities are open and accessible. We believe that no harm will be caused by any of Discover Groomsport's activities. The residents of the village of Groomsport and visitors to the village. Some of Discover Groomsport's activities are likely to attract visitors to the village. As a result, the cafe, the public bar, the restaurant and the supermarket in the village may have increased trade. This would be an incidental private benefit which would be an unavoidable and necessary side effect of Discover Groomsport's activities. No Trustees will benefit, directly or indirectly.

What your organisation does

Discover Groomsport was constituted on 28 October 2022. The Trustees will be holding a facilitated session on 14 January 2023, which is four days after this application of registration is due to be submitted. The output of that session will be a plan which sets out the short, medium and long-term goals of the organisation and the activities which

it will undertake to achieve these goals. In advance of the meeting a list of possible activities has been circulated to Trustees and it is anticipated that many of these will be discussed on 14 January 2023.The list is attached.

Charitable purposes

PURPOSES Discover Groomsport is a community organisation in the village of Groomsport, County Down. Its Purposes are: (1) To celebrate and promote the advancement of the rich history and heritage of the village of Groomsport by organising exhibitions, lectures, guided tours, publications, other educational activities and events by associating with statutory authorities, voluntary and community organisations and the private sector. (2) To help preserve Cockle Row Cottages and some of the other important heritage buildings in Groomsport and to contribute to making the village an attractive and safe place for residents and visitors. (3) To work to ensure that future plans and developments for Groomsport are consistent with its heritage and uniqueness, encouraging residents to take an active interest in proposals for the future of the village and by helping them understand the roles and responsibilities of statutory and other agencies in respect of the village. (4) To strengthen the local community of Groomsport by increasing community participation and to promote social inclusion by encouraging and promoting open and accessible community activities.
