Public benefits

Members of the local community will receive life-saving care in a range of medical emergencies, pending arrival ambulance service. Volunteers will preserve life , prevent deterioration and promote recovery. Volunteers will be trained and revalidated yearly in emergency first aid for situations such as choking and cardiac arrest. Comfort and

support will be provided to to family members and community during medical emergencies. The benefits can be identified through the number of individuals whom receive lifesaving care prior to arrival of ambulances. The number of community members that receive training as volunteers or attend events organised by the group will be monitored. There is no obvious harm arising from any of the purposes planned by the group. The beneficiaries of the charity, will be everyone with in the Glenravel area, that need the services of a first responder in a medical emergency. Through volunteering as responders or committee members individuals may gain skills and experience that are transferable to other settings. These benefits will be incidental and necessary to ensure the scheme volunteers have the skills to benefit the community.

What your organisation does

Glenravel community first responders recruits and trains volunteers in cooperation with Dalriada urgent care and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The volunteers will attend emergency situations when alerted by N.I.A.S. Fundraising is carried out to equip and train volunteers. Education and first response training will be facilitated

within the local community

Charitable purposes

The objects and aims of the organisation shall be: To set up and operate a volunteer led community first responder scheme. To provide life-saving care to people with any of a range of medical emergencies, as laid down from time to time by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, in our community, pending the arrival of the ambulance service. To recruit, co-ordinate and equip local volunteers who will be trained and alerted by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service to assess and provide an appropriate intervention to those with appropriate medical emergencies, in their localities. To provide, as appropriate, resuscitation including use of a defibrillator, care and support pending the arrival of an emergency ambulance, which will be dispatched simultaneously with the first responders. To assist were appropriate in education and training for the local community in emergency care
