What your organisation does

The Kilrea Community & Fairy Thorn Association exists for the benefit of the townsfolk and businesses and artists of Kilrea. The Association runs the Fairy Thorn festival, which hires/utilizes local artists, venues and businesses as a means to promote and highlight the town's many talented people. The Association then funnels any money made

through fundraisers or the festival into town regeneration projects, such as park facelifts or free entertainment events. The first of these projects will be ran in early 2023.

Charitable purposes

The aims of the Kilrea Community and Fairy Thorn Association will be: • To firstly revive, then plan, organise and run Kilrea’s Fairy Thorn Festival. The festival is to be held as a cross community biennial event and aims to entertain the people of the town and promote its artists, food, locations and wares, and give a general boost to the local community. The majority of events within the festival will aim to be free of charge, focusing especially on families within the town of Kilrea. • To create an inclusive group that can be accessed and contributed in by any adult individual from the town of Kilrea, so that all backgrounds can be represented and have a voice in the upcoming projects within the town. • To plan and run small projects for the benefit of the town, such as park maintenance, site enhancement and entertainment events. These projects will be run free of charge in majority of cases with the help of local volunteers and where necessary support from the local council and grant funding groups. This will serve to integrate the community allowing minority groups within the local area to socialise, build friendships and enjoy their local space together. • The committee will function as a not for profit organisation, and any funds accumulated will be funnelled back into local community regeneration projects or into the festival.
