Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from our organisation’s purposes include the provision of a range of educational, social, recreational and environmental activities, mainly based within Derrygonnely village and surrounding area, for members of the local community, persons other neighbouring communities within County Fermanagh and visitors to the
area, providing them with the opportunity to avail of activities that assist improve their quality of life through accessing services, activities, advice and information that would not normally be made available to them. Many of these activities are organised by the Partnership linking with other statutory organisations, voluntary organisations and business owners. Benefits of the activities are evidenced by the measurement of numbers participating in activities and through seeking feedback from participants. There is no harm flowing from the purposes of Derrygonnelly & District Community Partnership. The beneficiaries of Derrygonnelly & District Community Partnership are the residents of Derrygonnelly village and surrounding district, residents of neighbouring communities and visitors to the area. The only private benefits flowing from our purposes are that members of Derrygonnelly & District Community Partnership and their families can participate in all activities, and this is incidental and necessary to ensure that all members of the district can potentially benefit.

The partnership meets and acts as a forum for discussion on issues at a community level. The genesis of the partnership was in the development of a village action plan (attached) which drew all community representatives and organisations together under the one group and looked at improvements which the community wished to see take place. The
partnership has progressed many of the actions contained in the village plan. ie, village improvements, installation of MUGA pitch. They have also addressed community concerns with statutory agencies such as drugs concerns, speeding issues and any crime matters. They have also arranged health and wellbeing activities such as raising awareness in the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse. The partnership has also carried out a number of fundraising activities to support their work. They have organised talent concerts, plays and more recently in June of this year they held a car boot sale and a family fun day. The proceeds for this event is going towards the purchase of new Christmas lights. One of the annual events which the partnership organises is the annual Christmas lights switch on. This involves the community coming together and having a formal lights switch on which is then followed by a community based event where there is a party which involves a local band playing as well as community groups coming together to volunteer to provide light refreshments. The event is also supported by local businesses who contribute to the running costs. The partnership has also been involved in working with all the churches in our community and pre COVID had hosted an annual Christmas community carol service. Currently, the partnership is playing an active part in the future development of Lough Navar Forest. This is a significant project which will hopefully bring about significant benefits to the community and surrounding area. We are represented on the steering group to ensure the views of the community are taken account of.
