Public benefits

The direct benefits which can flow from the purpose are: To provide and assist the maintenance and formation of religious facilities and places of worship for Muslims which are for their spiritual, educational, theological and/or social benefit. Enable the Muslim community to be full participants in public, social and economic life in Northern

Ireland. Provide and help develop a positive example of Muslim youth, their families and their religious identity, which is compassionate, peaceful, civically minded, environmentally mindful, well informed spiritually/socially and integrated to the wider community thus benefiting society through developing a peaceful and tolerant community. Safeguarding Muslim youth and their families from Islamophobia, racism, bigotry and all forms of discrimination. Promotion of the Islamic faith which is peaceful and compassionate and disseminating correct Islamic views, values and theology from misunderstandings and misrepresentations which are contrary towards universal Islamic principles of tolerance and peace. Safeguarding Muslim youth and family rights enshrined in international law. Promotion of civil rights and equality for the Muslim community for the benefit of a tolerant and multi-cultural society. These Benefits will be evidenced through: Feedbacks from the beneficiaries of the courses/classes/religious activities/ programs/projects/events. Beneficiary feedback opportunities, community networks, Social media followers and website responses. Progress updates for beneficiaries. There is no harm flowing from the purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are the Muslim community, and the general public throughout Northern Ireland. There is no private benefit flowing from the purposes.

What your organisation does

Supporting Youth & Families: youth groups and family orientated events/activities/classes. Advancing Muslim Values: promotion and organisation of Islamic education and worship through classes, discussion circles, courses, traditional preaching and classical methods of religious activities e.g. regular prayer. Education Support: this would relate

to education support for students supplementary to their full-time education e.g. homework club and transfer test tutoring. Community Development: this would relate to supporting the development of the Muslim community through facilitating beneficial community work e.g. Reading program (free book loaning) or free use of printing facilities. Poverty Alleviation: supporting the poorest in our society through initiatives and activities which assist in lifting members of the community out of poverty e.g. refugee hamper project and food bank donations. Promotion of Islamic arts/heritage: this will be carried out through a number of activities/events/courses. For example, lectures on Islamic history and heritage and Islamic crafts projects (mini-mosque project for kids). Religious/Racial Harmony: promotion of diversity and advocation against racism and intolerance. Courses/lectures and video campaigns highlighting issue of racism and intolerance and possible solutions. Working with other organisations to address and support religious/racial harmony and peace and inter-faith respect. Civil Progress, Integration, Empowerment: advocation and support of the development and preservation of the human rights of Muslims particularly but not exclusively the right to religious freedom, life, a private family life, to non-discrimination, freedom from slander, liberty and security of person, peaceful protection of property and intellectual freedom including that of conscience. This will be achieved through video campaigns, lectures/courses and through working with authorities/institutions/organisations with these shared objectives.

Charitable purposes

Ihsan Youth is established to support Muslim youth and their families throughout Northern Ireland, through advancing Muslim values, education, community development, poverty alleviation and promotion of Islamic arts/heritage, religious/racial harmony and advocating for civil progress, with the aim of integrating, empowering and improving the conditions of the said community.
