Public benefits

The charitable purposes of Breaker Breaker benefits the mental and physical health of those involved in the haulage industry. The Charity aims to provide a 'one-stop shop' for those experiencing mental health issues within the haulage industry in Northern Ireland. The Charity makes persons aware of help and support available them. The Charity also

aims to provide a 'Mobile Hub' facility to directly contact those suffering from stress and anxiety and those potentially at risk of suicide. Part of the problem is that in the haulage industry, the drivers frequently leave home on a Sunday evening and don’t return home until the following Friday evening, so they have long periods in isolation. Support services are closed when they return home over the weekend. The hub will enable persons to access services at times that are suitable on board ferries, the provision of telephone/ text support services. The hub will also attend events that drivers would normally have an interest in attending, such as, truck shows. In respect of a wider public benefit, if the mental health of those involved in the haulage industry is improved then the ripple effect is that families are not torn apart, the public health service has less of a burden placed upon it.The promotion of the services ultimately will be to destigmatise mental health especially for males within the haulage industry, making it a normal activity to discuss concerns around mental health. No harm arises from any of the Charity's purposes. The beneficiaries of Breaker Breaker are those working in the haulage industry and families of those involved in the haulage industry. There is no private benefit flowing from the purposes of Breaker Breaker.

What your organisation does

The Charity fundraises with the aim of providing a 'Mobile Hub' which will be pitched around Northern Ireland at truck shows, driver lounges on-board ferries and and other relevant locations for members of the haulage industry to avail of mental health support services. Breaker Breaker hosts various shows and events to seek to boost the morale of

those involved in the haulage industry and aims to provide support through text/phone and face-to-face counselling services aimed at those who may be suffering from mental health problems in an effort to reduce suicide rates, stress and anxiety, from the proposed Mobile Hub. Breaker Breaker also aims to provide physical health checks at its lorry shows and at its Mobile Hub when situated at companies and on ferries.
