Public benefits

The Charity’s purposes will advance education, community development, arts, culture and local heritage in the Northlands area; they will also assist in conflict resolution and societal reconciliation in what is a historically divided locality; and will advance environmental interests of the area. The Charity will demonstrate the benefits by work

with local schools and community groups to make known the historical and cultural importance of the institutions in the area; promotion of arts and musical events in the related buildings; encouraging collaboration in events particularly between the communities of the Catholic Cathedral and Christ Church (Church of Ireland) thereby creating a wider understanding of each heritage and reconciliation between historically divided peoples; and as far as possible, assist in the preservation and improvement of the local built environment. Publicly and often indirectly, the Charity’s activities will give public benefit by encouraging tourism in the area with Christ Church being open daily, supporting historical and artistic exhibitions mounted in the various buildings and in a conservation-sensitive manner, by making available the substantial and significant records of the institutions. There will be no known harm leading from these purposes. The Charity's purposes will benefit current and future generations of children as well as the local adult community by the enrichment of cultural and educational life in the area including inter-sectional activities. The well-developed tourist networks of Londonderry will be encouraged to send groups to the area and on-line sources such as the National Churches Trust “Explore Churches” will provide indirect cultural awareness and stimulus to both local, national and international audiences. The nationally renowned local University of the Third Age will also be encouraged to use the facilities and collaborate with activies in order to benefit the older members of our community. None.
