Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from purpose 1 include improved collaboration across VCSE organisations in North Belfast; increased capacity in management of health and education outcomes; improved relations across interface communities; increased understanding and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion; reduction in carbon footprint. The

development of the new ABC Health & Leisure Community Hub directly benefits the residents of the immediate area by addressing the impacts of dereliction and blight on their sense of community pride and increased capability in the management of community projects and facilities. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 2 include improved health and wellbeing; improved physical health; improved awareness across public and private sectors of and greater participation in local health and leisure facilities; improved engagement with health authorities. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3 include improved skills; improved knowledge and learning; improved awareness of training opportunities; improved engagement with community education service providers, improved engagement with employment service. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 4 include improved financial management; greater awareness equity, diversity and inclusion; increased awareness of local social welfare support; improved cross-sectoral collaboration. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 5 include increased awareness of environmental impact; reduction in carbon footprint. The benefits from purpose 1 are demonstrated through feedback; surveys; outcomes monitoring records; verbal feedback of services provided and independent evaluation. The benefits from purpose 2 are demonstrated through feedback; surveys conducted with tenant organisations; beneficiary outcomes monitoring records; service management records and awards; and independent evaluation of our services. The benefits from purpose 3 are demonstrated through feedback from attendees at our activities using evaluation forms; surveys; beneficiary outcomes monitoring records; independent evaluation of our services; employment and pathway records of participants. The benefits from purpose 4 are demonstrated through feedback from advice service records, quantitative and qualitative records; outcomes monitoring records; independent evaluations. The benefits from purpose 5 are demonstrated through activity feedback forms; monitoring records; independent assessment. There is no harm anticipated from purpose 1,3, 4 or 5. There could be harm arising from purpose 2 anticipated through accidental injury while participating in activities but this would be outweighed by any benefits from health improvements. The charity’s beneficiaries are people across all age groups, gender and ability living in North Belfast and its environs. A private benefit flows from purpose 1 through our ongoing programme for governance and evaluation practice training and good practice visits. Through these development opportunities trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings and which may benefit their own community groups. Private benefit will also go to employees of the charity that are necessary to deliver our purposes. No private benefit flow from purpose 2, 3, 4 and 5 to the charity. Any private benefit incurred by employees of the charity are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefits of our purposes are provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Purpose 1: Advancement of citizenship and community development 
ABC health & leisure ltd will manage and develop the ABC Centre, a new purpose built, health, leisure and educational community hub comprising a wide range of services and facilities for community benefit such as flexible community sports halls, meeting rooms for community use,

community and training café, The directors and tenants of the ABC Centre facilitate the development of formal and informal volunteering. Purpose 2: Advancement of Health 
The ABC Centre will provide support for mental, physical and emotional health and wellbeing issues, through activities, advice and services held in the centre to meet the needs of the community of Ardoyne and beyond. Purpose 3: The advancement of Education and training 
ABC health & leisure ltd will encourage and facilitate healthy lifestyles through the promotion of education and physical and mental wellbeing training at the ABC Centre. 
ABC health & leisure ltd will manage and implement a range of monitoring and evaluation methods (Outcomes star and Warwick Edinburgh Mental Well Being Scale (WEMWBS7) ) within an outcomes framework to measure improvements against baseline data of all participants and attendees at our facilities in line. Purpose 4: Relief of poverty
 
ABC health & leisure ltd will regularly develop and review a plan that will respond to the strategic needs of the ABC Trust area. This work will complement ongoing partnerships/collaborations with organisations and networks that enhance community development, good relations and anti-poverty work across North Belfast. Purpose 5: Advancement of Environmental protection and improvement
 
ABC health & leisure ltd will implement an environmental policy across all their activities and facilities management tasks. They will monitor, review and report on their ongoing environmental impacts.

Charitable purposes

The charity's objects ("Objects") are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of North Belfast and its environs (the "area of benefit"), without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, age, disabiltiy, race, ethnicity, or political, religious or other opinion, and in particular: The advancement of citizenship and community development by: promoting active citizenship and volunteering in th community; providing facilities, amenities and support to community and voluntary groups and organisations; promoting good community relations, social inclusion and cohesion, religious and racial harmony and equality and diversity; fostering a sense of community by encouraging and celebrating a sense of place, civic pride and ownership and an appreciation of all aspects of local heritage. The advancement of health and the promotion and encouragement of community participation in amatuer sports, health recreation and, in the interests of social welfare, other leisure-time occupations for the public at large or for individuals who have need of such facilties by reason of their youth, age, disablement or social and economic circumstances. The advancement of education and training by delivering and/or providing facilities for classes, workshops, trianing courses and other forms of tuition. The prevention or relief of poverty.
