Public benefits
[What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes?] By providing a comfortable and safe venue, it provides a hub for the men in the area to meet for education and to socialise thereby increasing their skills and knowledge and levels of engagement. By scheduling regular meet-up events and education it gives men the opportunity
to pursue hobbies, crafts and improve their skills and most important share any worries or concerns, this helps improve the men's mental health. By selecting projects with a community focus we are encouraging good citizenship to the benefit of the wider community. [How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated?] By the number of men attending the Men's Shed and taking part in various projects. We monitor that we have continued engagement with the members and aim for an increase in membership. We monitor our Facebook page and community feedback and gauge feedback to ensure we are meeting the needs of the local men. We do not anticipate any harm from our purposes, however in the workshop tools will be used and we ensure adequate supervision in their use. Full PPE is used and all projects are risk assessed and adequate insurance policies are in place. The Charities beneficiaries are the men within Belleek and district area. There is no private benefit flowing from our purposes.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
We have and maintain a comfortable venue so that men have the opportunity to meet and socialise with others in a man to man, shoulder to shoulder environment. Men share skills and are educated to learn new skills in a friendly environment. In our workshop area we have at our disposal a range of tools and equipment to promote and encourage the
members to share their skills and experience. Our social area has a pool table, dart board, TV. and tables suitable for card games for members with those interests. We work closely with the local schools, creche and community groups on projects we have in common.
