The direct benefits that flow from our organisations purposes include; - Overall improvement in quality of life for rural dwellers, helping tackle issues such as poverty and disadvantage; - Reduction in health inequalities within our local community, helping people make healthier and more informed choices and improving their long term health
outcomes; - Improvements in physical, emotional and mental wellbeing of all rural dwellers in Pomeroy and surrounding area; - Young people being empowered to make better decisions which allows them to fulfil their real potential in life and make a positive contribution to their local community and wider society; - Helping tackle issues such as isolation and loneliness for people of all ages, particularly older people living in Pomeroy and surrounding area; - Developing a vibrant local rural economy, creating jobs/employment and helping tackle underlying issues of poverty and disadvantage; - Building capacity, knowledge and skills within the local community to allow people to make a positive contribution to building a positive, vibrant and healthy rural community; - Helping maintain high quality community facilities that can be used by the general public and other constituted organisations/charities, delivering improved long term outcomes for rural dwellers in Pomeroy and surrounding area; - Build positive relationships within and between different communities of identity in Pomeroy and surrounding area, building a sense of respect, tolerance and interdependence and contributing to a shared and peaceful community; - Improving access to local natural assets such as Pomeroy Forest in partnership with Mid Ulster District Council and Forest Service; - Rural dwellers are better connected and have a deeper understanding of the local built, natural and cultural heritage; - Ensure that needs and issues of Pomeroy and surrounding area are always known to key statutory agencies and community and voluntary sector organisations. These benefits can be demonstrated by; - Increased levels of participation in physical activities; - Increased levels of participation in training / workshops / courses focused on developing improved mental and emotional wellbeing; - Changes reported by participants through monitoring and evaluation which may include increased activity levels, reduction in stress and anxiety, improvements in feelings of self worth and efficacy, reduction in isolation; - Evidence of impact through independent evaluations; - New businesses and increased jobs/employment created; - Increased investment in Pomeroy and surrounding area; - Increased volunteering opportunities; - Improved capacity and improved governance within our own organisation; - Improvements in local community infrastructure; - Improved relationships and more collaborative working; - Active participation by local people in various forums and networks. There is only a possibility of harm through our work to increase access to local natural assets such as Pomeroy Forest but this is mitigated through ongoing educational programmes, environmental initiatives and ongoing partnership working with Forest Service, Mid Ulster District Council and other relevant statutory agencies. Through our work, we want to protect local biodiversity and contribute positively to the local natural environment. The intended beneficiaries our work is primarily rural dwellers who live in Pomeroy and surrounding areas. Our charity works with and brings benefits to people of all ages and abilities. We are always focused on providing benefit to children, families and individuals who may experience poverty or disadvantage for whatever reason. There is no private benefit flowing from any of the purpose.

Pomeroy Development Projects seeks to improve the overall quality of life for people living in Pomeroy and surrounding area through (I) the provision of enterprise space at the Rowan Tree Centre and ongoing business support to create local employment and reduce rural poverty (ii) delivering a range of health and wellbeing initiatives for all people
of all ages to improve physical and mental health and reduce health inequalities (iii) providing a range of training and educational programmes to support people of all ages develop knowledge and skills (iv) offering volunteering opportunities for people to contribute positively to local community (v) developing positive relationships between all members of the community and creating a greater sense of civic pride in the area (vi) supporting the development of environmental, historical and heritage projects which encourage wider participation from the local community (vii) working closely with local community and voluntary sector partners and statutory agencies to ensure the needs of local people are known and addressed at the earliest possible opportunity.
