Through providing opportunities to upskill people within the local and wider community, by providing a place to inspire and by providing mental health related education through sport and activity, With 200 children in playing within our affiliated teams in the local Lurgan/ Craigavon area, sport and activity as part of being active which is
recognised as one of the five steps to health and wellbeing , alongside our outreach mental health work within primary and secondary schools ( both locally and further afield), the benefits of our purpose relate to improved opportunity, spirit and cohesion within both the local and wider community, primarily through sports and activity we directly improve the physical health of children and young people who reside within the Lurgan area; this provides a public benefit. These physical benefits include improved aerobic capacity, improved balance, co-ordination and mobility as well as improved body shape and posture. These physical attributes are essential for children and young people; they act as the building blocks for more complex and specialised skills which they will learn as they grow older. These skills can be transferred so they can competently play various games, enjoy recreational activities at school and home. Through providing opportunities in a sporting context, specifically football we will improve users mental and emotional attributes which provides a public benefit. Sport can relieve stress, anxiety and worry and provide a social outlet for children and young people to express their capabilities taking part in exercise in a safe, structured environment. Through improving confidence levels and inspiring users to enjoy sport, we are aiding their emotional wellbeing. This purpose is especially important in today’s society where suicide and depression is more common amongst children and young people. By providing opportunities for education through sport and activity, Train 2B Smart develop the physical , mental and emotional health of the local and wider community which provides a public benefit. Sport can relieve stress, anxiety and worry and provide a social outlet for children, young people and the community to express their capabilities taking part in exercise in a safe, structured environment. Our upskilling of volunteers through workshops, seminars and upskilling of volunteers through mental health first aid courses and coaching awards can be demonstrated through through qualifications and also through increased levels of confidence of participants. At times, education of mental health related issues through our sports and activities at our facility (purpose), may lead to service users needing more specialist mental and emotional and counselling advice Train 2B Smarts beneficiaries are children, young people , vulnerable adults , parents and volunteers from both the local and wider community. Any specialist support in relation to the purposes of Train 2B Smart ( ie. the education of mental health and emotional wellbeing through sport and activity) will be provided by service level providers and governed by the Trustees and committee.

Train 2B Smart carries out its purpose by promoting resilience within the local and wider community, providing education of mental health and wellbeing through sport and activity. We provide a platform for team building through our affiliated football teams and also present workshops and sporting activities to children and parents from local
schools, community groups and organisations on the importance of sport and activity in maintaining mental health and wellbeing.
