Public benefits

The direct benefits are as follows: 1. Improved health & wellbeing (both mental and physical) of participants engaging in both sport & physical activity, via the utilisation of NICSSA's comprehensive range of facilities, programmes, events & training workshops. 2. Increased opportunities to unite the local community through the delivery of

community sport & physical recreation programmes, activities & events. 3. Improved social inclusion and tolerance by all, via cross community membership and the delivery of a range of community programmes & events, for the wider public benefit. 4. Opportunity to ease both the financial and administrative burden on sports clubs, community and voluntary sector groups, across NI through the provision of improved, affordable facilities. The benefits set out above are and will continue to be evidenced through feedback from all users of our facilities and programmes, including schools, community groups, governing bodies of sport, sports teams, and general members of the public. The benefits are also supported by the increasing number of individuals & groups utilising the facilities for sport & physical activity. Whilst there may be a risk to those taking part in sporting activities, the potential risk of harm is both rare and relatively minor in comparison to the overall benefits of participating in sport and physical activity. NICSSA's health & safety logs clearly demonstrate the low level of injuries/harm obtained via the utilisation/engagement of the organisation's facilities and programmes. However, clearly articulated procedures are in place documenting steps to react to and/or address any health & safety related incidents/issues. NICSSA's beneficiaries are people who live and work within the local and wider community in N.I as well as frequent users from ROI. Private benefits to trustees may arise from ongoing financial and governance training, which may be transferrable to other settings. These private benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure trustees are fully skilled and informed, hence able carry out their roles in NICSSA inline with best practice.
