The Falls Residents Association (F.R.A) carries out its purpose through a dedicated advice centre based within the Divis Tower Complex in the Falls area of West Belfast. We engage in a range of support and advocacy work including: • Benefit and welfare rights advice • Housing advice e.g. repairs, maintenance and rent arrears • Housing rights
issues e.g., allocations, transfers and the housing points criteria • Community safety • Community cohesion We work to enable our residents to live a safer, more comfortable life including area improvement schemes, property maintenance and day to day issues relating to housing development. We offer training and facilitation opportunities on a range of topics, including mental health wellbeing advice and support, how to access other community development opportunities including community cohesion programmes around enhancing community relations. We occasionally offer computer training courses for elderly residents and additional digital support for those unable to access digital and online public and community services. We engage regularly with a range of public bodies and other community and voluntary organisations on a wide range of issues to improve community wellbeing. We engage on regeneration planning and community development issues for the Falls area for example the Ross Street flats demolition and the redevelopment of derelict land adjacent to the Westlink motorway, now known as Divis Back Path. The Residents Association regularly seek out support to facilitate community events to enhance community cohesion. These events allow families, individuals or low-income households an opportunity to participate in community-led events and provide an outlet for children and young people who otherwise could not afford to engage in social activities.
