The direct benefits flowing from the purposes of the charity are: a. The provision of chaplaincy services to students and staff at third-level institutions across the city of Belfast b. The provision of accommodation in residential chaplaincy communities for, primarily but not exclusively, third-level education students. c. The provision of acts of

worship open to the general public d. Campus engagement through a public presence, the provision of public facilities, supporting university-led initiatives, ceremonies and events, and organising theological events for the general public. e. Pastoral support to students and staff How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? Support by the availability of chaplains to attend, & where appropriate to sit on, bodies appointed to further the work of the institutions; pastoral & spiritual support offered to students & staff alike; & engagement with university initiatives. The provision of accommodation in the student centre in South Belfast for up to 50 students annually from a mixture of universities & colleges. Providing opportunities for spiritual engagement, including church services, events, discipleship & outreach activities, social action, & pastoral support. Resourcing & encouraging students to participate fully in the life of their campus, through events, volunteering, & fundraising for partner organisations; facilitating activities at university accommodation locations; running a non-profit cafe to provide a safe space for students to meet, study & volunteer. Working with &/or independent of university bodies to provide pastoral support to students & staff throughout the academic year. Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes? NO. What your organisation does

The operational work of the charity is carried out through its chaplains, who are trustees, and employees of the charity. The ministry team, supported by operational, management and ancillary staff, work towards the promotion of the Christian faith on campuses through a range of activities, including: - Working with the academic institutions as

representatives of the parent denominations, the Christian faith, and towards the common good of supporting staff and students on campus, along with promoting the institutions. - Facilitating the worship of God across the campuses, either on campus properties where permitted, through ministry partners in the city, or at the Church of the Resurrection based at 22 Elmwood Avenue. - Grow Christian communities on campus along with providing spaces and services to encourage good community amongst staff and students of all faiths. - Proclaim the Christian faith in word and action through a wide range of activities, events, services, both in person and online through our website and social media channels.

Charitable purposes

4. The Charity’s objects (‘Objects’) are specifically restricted to advance the Christian faith amongst third level education University and College campuses in the City of Belfast in accordance with the Church of Ireland Statement on Charitable Purposes and Public Benefit (as set out in the Schedule to the articles) and the principles and practices of the Church of Ireland and the Methodist Church in Ireland by: 4.1. the provision of facilities and services with a Christian ethos that aim to support and benefit the spiritual, social, academic and professional networks across various campuses; 4.2. creating, developing, managing and overseeing, 1 or more residential chaplaincy communities through the provision of accommodation for, primarily but not exclusively, third level education students; 4.3. working with Parishes, circuits, missions, other groups, Christian traditions and organisations working to further Christian mission and ecumenism; 4.4. contributing to the good and welfare of the Universities and Colleges, their role within the City of Belfast and impact on wider society.
