What your organisation does

We advocate on behalf of and support Victims of Sexual Violence through each stage of the Criminal Justice System; this can be from informing decisions around reporting the crime right through to case conclusion in Court (if that is the path they wish to pursue). We provide information on the Criminal Justice System, Victims Rights and Health

services. On services users behalf we liase with all Statutory and Voluntary agencies involved with them to not only ensure they are fully informed at each stage but also to ensure all agencies are held accountable for their service provision. We offer a home -visiting support which enables the most isolated and 'hard to reach' individuals to receive support. This home based service means we are offering a protective factor and are ideally placed to identify quickly, concerns and need which could potentially be indicative of deterioration in an individuals circumstances. Our emphasis is on supporting individuals at an early stage to ensure the support we offer has the best possible impact. Trauma has immeasurable implications on thought processes, individuals affected by this crime require concentrated initial support; upon receipt of the referral we will initiate contact within 24hours. At our initial assessment stage we enable each service user to assess how this crime has impacted them and together we devise a package of intervention that we can put in place to best meet their needs. This can include signposting where appropriate and if required accompanying service users to any appointments they feel unable to attend alone. Assessments are reviewed at regular intervals throughout intervention, ensuring individuals lead their journey to recovery.
