Public benefits
What are the direct benefits flowing from your organisation's purposes? We are offering financial bursaries to students who are going to 3rd level education (or the equivalent). The bursaries will be paid each year for up to 4 years depending on the length of their course. Many of these students would not be able to complete there chosen course
without the funding. We are also working with secondary schools to help them develop strategies and programmes to to support mental health initiatives and building resilience in students to prepare them for life after secondary school. Similarly, we are working with primary schools to support them with programmes to support mental health initiatives and building resilience in younger children in preparation for their transition to second level education and in preparation for a healthy and productive life. Promotion of a "pay it forward" ethos encouraging those who have benefited to the Trust to give back in future years. How can the benefits identified above be demonstrated? Students who may not have been able to attend their third level education course for a variety of reasons such as poverty or educational disadvantage will have the opportunity to obtain a substantial financial bursary that will allow them proceed. The programmes which are being run in both primary and secondary level schools as a result of funding from the Trust will improve mental health awareness, create positive mindsets and build resilience in those children who are involved. This will give them the best opportunities to achieve their ambitions which in turn will have a positive impact in the communities that they live and work in. The programmes that we support in the schools would not happen without funding from the Trust . Is there any harm arising from any of the purposes? No we don't believe so. Who are the charity's beneficiaries? School groups in both primary and secondary education and students going to 3rd level education or the equivalent. Is there any private benefit flowing from any of the purposes? Is it incidental and necessary? There will be private benefit for each of the beneficiaries of the bursaries. Any student within a nominated school to which the bursary applies has the opportunity to apply. There is a rigorous selection process ,based on financial and emotional need, for the funding. Those who are successful will receive a bursary each year for up to 4 years depending on the length of their course. This benefit is an incidental consequence of the Trust's purpose.

The 5 Ten Trust is dedicated to supporting children in the North West of Ireland in reaching their full potential in whatever path they choose. Our main aim is to break barriers and help build futures. We provide financial support in the form of bursaries to students experiencing economic or social hardship in order for them to fulfill their
ambitions. We work with local secondary schools and develop strong relationships enabling us to create carefully targeted grant making activities for individuals and groups . We will begin to support projects and programmes that are impactful in reversing social damage caused by educational disadvantage, poverty, or exclusion experienced by children and young adults. We will work with the educators in developing programmes to support employability and resilience for all. We will enable and encourage a “pay it forward” principle among all participants to encourage future growth.
