Public benefits

Purpose 1 The aim of CHILL is to improve and promote positive mental health and wellbeing, and to raise awareness of suicide prevention. Our key aim and number one public benefit flowing from purpose 1 is to advance the health of all and allow people to live their best lives. To: a)contribute to the promotion of wellbeing and the prevention of

suicide and self-harm by offering early intervention, prevention and post-vention services to assist those at risk, their families and/or their carers; b)promote the advancement of positive mental health and improve the emotional wellbeing of people living in the Carrickfergus, Greenisland, Whitehead and Ballycarry area. At all times we are guided by what is most up-to-date and appropriate for the communities we work with. The benefit that flows from the services we provide is: improved mental, emotional and physical health outcomes that reduce levels of stress, anxiety, low confidence and self-esteem to the individual presenting with thoughts of suicide, self-harm or emotional anxiety. Purpose 2 The main objective of CHILL is to work collaboratively with the local Community & Voluntary Sector organizations to support individuals their families, including children and young people affected by mental health issues, to raise awareness of suicide prevention and to improve the wellbeing of the community. The benefit flowing from purpose 2 is to advance the education and skills of the community and people of Carrickfergus, Greenisland, Whitehead and Ballycarry, raising awareness of, the causes and effects of poor mental and emotional health and suicide, and giving people information on the actions that can be taken to prevent suicides and support them to deal with all these matters. The direct benefits are the increased public knowledge and awareness into the causes and effects of suicide and self-harm and into matters relating grief, bereavement and the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals from their ailments. The benefits are demonstrated through client feedback, training participant feedback from our training and events as well as access to counselling and other therapies, In addition to this we can establish the benefit by the numbers of people who have actively engaged in our events, activities and the actual number of communities we are working with collaboratively. The more we provide our services within the community the more we are helping to improve understanding and knowledge, thus encouraging active participation within the community to assist anyone who presents with issues that they may need help with. It is anticipated there is no harm, some of our activities deal with difficult and complex situations and topics, the services provided by CHILL are provided with rigorous training in place and all our activities are quality checked by both the CHILL and assisted by other relevant outside agencies and/or individuals. All of the community, people of all ages, all religions from across the Carrickfergus, Greenisland , Whitehead and Ballycarry areas. There are no private benefits flowing from within the purposes of our organisation. All of our services are open to all in the community, they are helping services and everyone in the community including committee members and volunteers. If they were to engage any benefits received for the service is not a private benefit but a community benefit offered and available to everyone in the community.
