Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from the organisation's purposes are that individuals or families can gain assistance in their hour of need by being helped with household goods or items of furniture, appropriate food parcels or being assisted to access recreation which they cannot afford themselves. The whole community benefits because they have

access to a charity shop where goods are reasonable priced, donors benefit by having an organisation when managed to ensure that only those in genuine need will access the donations that they have provided. They can be demonstrated by the numbers of people needing food, items of clothing, items of toiletries by their feedback forms, by their continuing conversations with volunteer staff and committee members. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes of the organisation. The beneficiaries are the families who live in the Mid Ulster area who are most in need of everyday essentials. There is no private benefit flowing from any of the purposes.

What your organisation does

The organisation was set up to raise funds and accept donations of household goods, clothing, and food in order to address poverty within their geographical area. They also have a centre where people can leave goods and household equipment and from where they run a charity shop 3 days a week to raise money to be spent on the needs of poor families

or poor individuals in their community. They are there to help people in need.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to: To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Mid Ulster area (hereinafter described as the area of benefit) without distinction of age, disability, gender, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to relieve poverty, assist those in need and to provide facilities in the interests of community development, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. To establish or secure the establishment of a community centre (hereinafter called the centre) and to maintain and manage or to co-operate with and local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects
