Public benefits
The direct benefits include reduction of stigma around suicide and poor mental health, encouraging help seeking behaviour from those affected and by educating our wider community, promote a proactive approach in supporting them. By encouraging positive mental health within the area and providing ‘postvention’ support for those impacted by suicide
and signposting to existing services, we can reduce the potential for further deaths. By working with statutory bodies and other groups to influence the development and improvement of services more people will have access to the appropriate help. These benefits will be demonstrated through a reduction in suicide statistics within our area of benefit, by the increase in those seeking help from services and through evaluation and feedback from participants in our programmes. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are the population of the legacy Limavady Borough Council area. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is training and development of our volunteers in suicide prevention, to host groups or deliver programmes. This is incidental and necessary benefit in order to promote suicide awareness and prevention.
