The public benefits which flow from our purposes include the promotion of education and awareness in the care of animals and better management and custodianship of our natural environment and enhancing the well-being in the area of benefit through the provision of farm and social facilities and activities for families and for marginalized and

isolated members of the community in the wider St James’ area. By adopting a community development approach to our activities and interests we will promote a better sense of citizenship and community ownership of the farm facilities and by promoting better co-operation between groups in the area of benefit. the numbers of visitors to the farm as individuals and families the number of volunteers and volunteer hours engaged in the farm and its' activities increased awareness of and care for the local environment social interaction between young and older people no the direct beneficiaries include local people living in the greater St James area, and West Belfast residents who visit our farm along with all sections of different communities. The wider public in NI also benefit through the opportunity to visit and learn from the experience of the farm and other communities in Belfast as visitors and as potential learning partners. no.

What your organisation does

The Farm provides an opportunity for beneficiaries to enhance their citizenship through the promotion of animal welfare and volunteering and the promotion of leisure time activities as well as providing volunteering opportunities for local people to engage directly in farm activities and initiatives. The farm is open to local people to visit and

engage with the animals and volunteers on their own terms, as individuals and as families and promotes community development through the encouragement of volunteering and active citizenship.

Charitable purposes

The farm shall have charitable objectives only, and is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the area and its environs (hereafter described as the ‘area of benefit’) from which is the St James Area; St James, Rock Streets, Clondara, La Salle without distinction of age, gender, race, political, religious or other opinion, by farm statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, relieve poverty and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. b) To promote co-operation between local community groups with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants in the area of benefit. c) To promote and co-ordinate Community Development by enhancing the local social infrastructure through: support, training and resource provision.
