Public benefits

The direct benefit flowing from 1 includes providing access to a neutral Community Centre, running activities to develop community cohesion, provide opportunities for social interaction and leisure time for local residents in the ‘area of benefit’ of all ages and backgrounds to improve quality of life and reduce rural social isolation.

Opportunities are created for local people to volunteer in the Centre helping in the management of it, increasing their skills and self-confidence, feeling valued and giving them sense of achievement The direct benefit flowing from 2 includes offering a space for local entrepreneurs in the ‘area of benefit’ to explore and trial classes and workshops in the community.They have opportunities to hire facilities at reasonable costs, run courses helping establish and grow their business in the community The direct benefit flowing from 3 includes provision of an Indoor 3G Pitch for use by local sporting organisations in the ‘area of benefit’, enabling them to offer training, team practice and games in a warm and welcoming facility throughout the year, improving performance, encouraging healthy competition and improving health and wellbeing The direct benefit flowing from 4 includes running education and training classes and workshops as well as providing a space for others to run same, bringing improvements in health, education and wellbeing of residents within the ‘area of benefit’ leading to better physical and mental health while reducing social isolation and creating community cohesion The direct benefit flowing from 5 includes providing a space for activities and events for residents in the ‘area of benefit’ to engage in Arts and Crafts, Historic and Cultural Talks. These activities increases the skills and knowledge of participants helping them to explore their creative potential, discover new passions while boosting their self-esteem and provides them with a sense of accomplishment, all beneficial to mental health and wellbeing Benefits of 1 are demonstrated through the number of bookings of rooms, facilities and range and number of individuals and groups asking to hire facilities and their feedback. Through the number of people of all ages and backgrounds attending activities and feedback from participants and beneficiaries and through the increase in the number of volunteers and their feedback Benefits of 2 are demonstrated through the number of new entrepreneurs wanting to use our facilities to run classes and workshops and their feedback Benefits of 3 are demonstrated through the number of sporting groups using our facilities and their feedback and the level of uptake of bookings Benefits of 4 are demonstrated through the number of people using our facilities and the level of uptake of people participating in our activities Benefits of 5 are demonstrated through the range of activities on offer,through feedback from people attending classes,talks,and workshops and by the level of uptake of activities The purposes of our Charity will not lead to any harm. The Charity’s beneficiaries are the people and groups living in Saintfield and surrounding villages participating in activities. In addition, beneficiaries are also those local entrepreneurs running or starting out in business being provided with a space to run activities. A private benefit to Trustees may arise from our ongoing programme of support and training. Through these Trustees may gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to the continued management of our Charity and facility to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

The purpose of Saintfield Community Trust is to provide access to a shared space for community activities in Saintfield. Our organisation manages Saintfield Community Centre encompassing a Large Main Hall, Indoor 3G Pitch, Studio Hall, Meeting Room, Lobby, Kitchen, Changing Facilities and Toilets. These facilities are available to groups and

individuals within the local community for hire at low cost, including those starting up and running bespoke businesses offering local services. The Centre is used by us and other groups for meetings and to deliver education and training classes, arts and crafts workshop, physical activity classes. The provision of the Indoor 3G Pitch allows sporting organisations in Saintfield and the surrounding areas to engage in amateur sport and recreation. Through management of the Centre we provide opportunities for local people to volunteer and actively engage in the running of the Centre and assist in organising free events we run to engage with the local community. We apply for grant funding to assist us in running our Centre and for Community Activities, we are a not for profit organisation and all money raised through hire charges is ploughed back into the Centre.

Charitable purposes

The Charity's objects are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Saintfield and its environs without distinction of gender, sexual orientation, age,disability,race, ethnicity or political, religious or other opinion and in particular to:- 1. Advance community development by: (i) providing facilities and support for community and voluntary groups and organisations. (ii) organising community and family events and providing facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupations for those individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth,age or social economic circumstances or for the public at large. (iii) managing land and buildings for the benefit of the community and facilitate the availability and safeguarding of community assets for the community and voluntary sector: (iv) promoting active citizenship and volunteering in the community (v) promoting social inclusivity, good community relations, social cohesion, racial and religious harmony and equality and diversity. 2. Promote sustainable means of creating employment and training opportunities in the area of benefit by providing premises and facilities to encourage the development of new, and expansion of existing businesses. 3. Promote and facilitate community participation in amateur sport and healthy recreation. 4. Promote education and training by delivering and/or providing facilities for classes, workshops, training course and other forms of tuition. 5. Promote arts and culture by encouraging community participation in creative arts and organising cultural and arts initiatives and events.
