Public benefits

We activate our intervention programmes to assist our members with mental health and emotional well – being when dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic fatality, giving education and understanding to trauma, traumatic bereavement PTSD, suicidal thoughts and feelings, anxiety etc by giving them tools and coping strategies to put in place

individually but also offering group support which helps individuals feel valid, listened to, understood and supported when coming to terms with their life changing event. This benefit can be demonstrated by a more educated & qualified population living within the Derry City & Strabane District Council area / Northern Ireland. The benefits will be evidenced from evaluation results & feedback from the participants / PSNI Flow Team /PSP from the services & workshops that we offer. There is no harm arising from this purpose The beneficiaries are the inhabitants of the Derry City & Strabane District Council & Northern Ireland A private benefit to Life After Trustees/volunteers is training i.e. child protect/health & safety/governance but this is incidental & necessary for professional standards to be maintained to carry out the service we provide & ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

1) Counselling session with the trauma counsellor 2) Listening ear service 3) Phone line open 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm 4) Monthly support meeting 5) Home visits 6) Remembrance services once a year 7) Fun days for the families 8) Work closely PSNI (flow team) 9) Deliver presentations to the Garniville Training College (for the new flow

officers) 10) Work with the Mental Health Team & GP Surgeries to help new families with the bereavement process 11) Liaise with all political parties & Emergency Services to deliver Road Safety Events 12) Work with the PCSP & the US Consulate 13) Train Volunteers to deliver our bespoke Support Package 14) Hold Workshops & Therapy Sessions for the target group i.e. 95 families affected by road traffic accidents 15) Early Intervention Programme (Team to work with the families to deliver the support package)

Charitable purposes

Life After's objectives are to promote the advancement of health or saving lives to those in need by reason of bereavement as a result of road traffic collisions, for the inhabitants of the Derry City & Strabane District Council & Northern Ireland Areas without distinction of sex, race or political, religious or other opinions by preserving health & Well-being by providing services in the interest of social welfare & improving conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
