Public benefits

NIBGA will promote golf as a viable new sport for people of any age or gender who has a visual impairment (VI), introducing them to a non-contact sport which they will be able to play and practise in every county of NI. NIBGA will encourage existing golfers who might be losing their sight due to getting older, having had a medical condition, an

accident etc to remain a player as they find a new way to live their life. The direct benefits flowing from the purpose of the organisation include improved physical and mental wellbeing; reduced stress; generate peer social opportunity; enhancing mental and emotional well-being; enhance social opportunity to blind and partially sighted people; equality of opportunity; giving the opportunity of mainstream community led group experience Benefits identified can be demonstrated by an increase of numbers of blind and partially sighted people (VI) partaking in driving range training and practice days, taster sessions and playing golf. Friends and family members reporting better life quality for their VI F&F; and importantly, NIBGA work with partners to carry out independent evaluation into the benefits listed above, such as mental and physical health benefits etc There is a risk of minor injury from the physically activity involved but this is outweighed by the benefits above The charity's beneficiaries are blind and partially sighted people, their families and carers, wider community Yes, private benefit flowing from this purpose in relation to events that do not require overnight stays: Golf clubs, coaches and golf club facilities In relation to organising international tournaments that require overnight stays: Hotels, restaurants and associated services. In relation to administration, marketing and promotion: Hire of services and service providers. This private benefit is necessary and incidental for the achievement of the purpose This is incidental and necessary for the achievement of the charity's purpose.

What your organisation does

NIBGA works with other sight sector organisations to promote blind golf and secure sighted guides to walk golf courses with blind and visually impaired golfers. NIBGA works with other disability orgs to provide training and practise in golf using driving ranges, and golf courses. We organise competitions with our members and invite other blind

and VI golfers from other areas to play competition
