The advancement of health or the saving of lives - members of our community benefit from improved mental, physical and social wellbeing through participation in the many activities provided at the centre, e.g. fitness classes, yoga, mindfulness, and through social interaction at the many clubs, e.g. youth clubs, carer and toddler group, senior citizens 3. The advancement of citizenship or community development - the provision of community services by the community for the community encourages participation and continued development of the community. 4. The advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science - LCA provide a range of arts and cultural activities, e.g. hosting of an amateur drama festival, etc 5. What your organisation does

Lislea Community Association run Lislea Community Centre and provide services to over 300 families in the immediate area and many more beyond. There are many events that take place on a weekly basis including youth clubs, Irish dancing, yoga, fitness classes, mindfulness classes, lively ladies, art classes, luncheon club. We planned, funded and

developed a new outdoor space including a playground, fitness area, story telling area, outdoor gathering space and a community 'shed' in 2018 and are currently funded by the National Lottery to run programmes and events for our community to improve health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation of our rural community

Charitable purposes

OBJECTIVES The Association is established: To relieve poverty, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Lislea area and district area of Newry & Mourne District Council and its environs (hereinafter described as "the area of benefit") without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare, for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; To establish or to secure the establishment of a Community Centre (hereinafter called 'the Centre') at 7 Mountain Road, Lislea, Newry (BT35 9UG) and to maintain it and to manage to cooperate with any local statutory authroity in the maintenance and management of such a Centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects.
