The benefits which flow from purpose a. are that the Young Athletes will learn and develop basic movement and sport skills and improve their physical health, through receiving health and well-being advice and regular training, in a familiar and supportive environment. The benefits which flow from purpose b. are that the athletes will have
opportunities to develop physical fitness, to share their sports skills with family, friends and compete with athletes at a similar level to themselves. It will enhance their confidence and self-esteem. The direct benefits which flow from purpose c. are that the Young Athletes can attend social and leisure opportunities in settings tailored to their needs. It will improve their community life through regular sports and recreation opportunities. They can make new friendships and develop their social skills and communication skills. Increasing public awareness will gain more support more for the Young Athletes and positively influence the public’s knowledge and behaviours towards them. These benefits can be demonstrated by feedback from the athletes, their family members, coaches and volunteers. There is a possibility of harm from physical injury whilst participating in the training. No injuries have yet occurred at our training sessions, therefore the benefits outweigh the possible harm. We have a ratio of approximately 1 volunteer to 2 children to supervise the children’s activities. We have several volunteers trained as coaches to organise and participate in safe and appropriate sessions. We have volunteers trained in first aid and have a first aid kit. The charity’s beneficiaries are children, aged 3-12, with an intellectual disability in the Belfast area. For purpose a. the suppliers that we use for club purchases such as equipment, clothing and hall hire provider benefit financially but it is necessary and incidental as it is a product of carrying out our purpose. For purpose b. travel and accommodation providers may benefit financially but it is necessary and incidental as it is a product of carrying out our purpose. For purpose c. providers of the social and leisure facilities may benefit financially but it is necessary and incidental as it is a product of carrying out our purpose.

Titanic Tigers Special Olympics Club started in 2019. It is a Young Athlete's Club for children, aged 3-12, with an intellectual disability in Belfast. We run a weekly session for the children to learn fundamental movement and sports skills in a fun and supportive environment with trained coaches and volunteers.
