Public benefits

The public benefits that flow from the purpose of promotion of stem cell donor awareness in Northern Ireland are: (i) an increase in the number of individuals who sign up to become a potential stem cell donor, which increases the likelihood of a successful match being found for an individual in need of a donor and resulting in improved health

outcomes and enhanced quality of life for the beneficiaries. The benefits can be demonstrated by the number of people from Northern Ireland who join either of the stem cell donor registries and by the number of people the organisation successfully matches donors for. The public benefits that flow from the purpose of campaigning for age appropriate care for teenagers and young adults aged 16-24 are: (i) an increased likelihood of improvement in facilities and age appropriate care for teenagers and young adults in Northern Ireland who are in need of treatment for cancer related illnesses, including palliative and end of life care. Age appropriate care will lead to an enhanced quality of life, better physical and emotional well-being and increased likelihood of successful recovery. The benefits of campaigning can be demonstrated by the implementation of age appropriate care and improved facilities for teenagers and young adults in NI and the benefits flowing from this. The public benefits that flow from the purpose of supporting Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) who need a Donor Stem Cell transplant and/or are receiving treatment for cancer related illnesses are; (i) an enhanced quality of life and physical and emotional well-being through physical, financial and emotional support for teenagers and young adults and their families receiving or awaiting stem cell donor transplants or cancer related treatments. The benefits can be demonstrated by the number of TYA’s and their families who receive emotional, physical or financial support when receiving or awaiting stem cell donor transplants or cancer related treatments. There is no harm arising from the purposes. The beneficiaries are teenagers and young adults with life-threatening illnesses, their families, and any individual who requires a stem cell transplant, without distinction of gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion. There is no private benefit flowing from the organisation’s purposes.
