Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from our purposes is to promote the education of 3 to 5 year old children in a safe and stimulating rural setting. In the preschool setting the children are encouraged to develop their communication skills with other children and adults outside their family. They make choices and learn independence. They learn early

maths skills, explore the world around us through inside and outside play and have opportunities to be creative using a variety of natural and junk materials. Parents benefit by having a local preschool setting where they are confident that their children are cared for by well-qualified and enthusiastic adults. Parents are encouraged to become involved in the playgroup activities through fundraising events and attending special other special events where the children's progress is celebrated. Parent/staff interviews are arranged at regular intervals throughout the year. Kirkinriola Early Years is a company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital. The group aims to meet the education needs of children in the area. The setting is managed by a Board of Directors who oversee the leader and staff who are responsible for delivering a wide and stimulating curriculum. The group is a member of the Early Years Organisation for Young Children and registered with and inspected by the NHSCT on an annual basis. The benefits are demonstrated by staff operating a Key worker approach to observe and monitor the progress of a specific group of children and communicating the finding to parents. Any concerns will be highlighted to parents and outside agencies contacted if appropriate. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes as health and safety is closely monitored by the directors, staff social services and the early years specialist on regular visits to the group. A healthy lifestyle is promoted and the premises and equipment is maintained to a high standard. The charity's beneficiaries are the children and parents/carers who choose Kirkinriola Early Years for their child's preschool education. There is no private benefit flowing from any purpose other than the Staff in the playgroup benefitting by being paid for work carried out.

What your organisation does

We are a non-profit organisation established in 1996 by two local volunteers who identified the lack of pre-school provision in the area. We are a well-established group that caterers for 30 children aged 2 years 10 months to 4 years. We follow the N I Pre-School curriculum which are Language & Literacy, Mathematics & Numeracy, The Arts, The World

Around Us, Personal Development & Mutual Understanding and Physical Development &Movement. We aim to provide an enriched environment which promotes children's independence, self-esteem and confidence through a play based curriculum. Our group welcomes and promotes equal opportunities and facilitates all abilities, cultures and religion. We provide a safe and secure environment in which parents can feel confident leaving their child delivering a high quality pre school education and care for all the children in a warm, caring and stimulating atmosphere. Our Playgroup assists in the development of the child to achieve his/her full potential, identifying each child’s individual needs, to give a high degree of individual attention to each child especially when emotional support is required. We have an inclusive approach towards children with special needs. The Playgroup believes that all children, parents and staff should be treated with courtesy and respect and that their views and wishes should be taken into consideration. The Playgroup believes that the parents are the first educators and aim to work in partnership at all times with them. The Playgroup believes in an open door policy allowing parents to approach the Playgroup with comments, suggestions or concerns.
