The benefits which flows from the purpose are: • people who suffer from suicidal thoughts, in despair or in distress receive the appropriate support, advice and treatment to reduce the incidence of suicide • those bereaved by suicide are supported with the aim of alleviating their distress • more people living locally develop positive
mental health and improve their emotional wellbeing. • more people will become aware of the stigma associated with poor mental health, more people will become aware of the impacts of suicide and more people will become educated on helping others. The benefits can be demonstrated by: • internal records of the number of people we engage with who are suicidal and Government statistics which highlight the number of deaths by suicide in West Belfast and its environs • recording the number of people we engage with and an emotional wellbeing questionnaire before, during and after period of treatment • reduction in self-harm, suicide and mental health referrals shown by Government statistics and regular feedback and evaluation of services from users who attend training and awareness events and public health education professionals • recording the number of external organisations including schools, community groups and government agencies we liaise and present to for the purposes of improving education There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. The charity's beneficiaries are those from West Belfast and its environs who are suicidal, bereaved by suicide or suffers from ill-mental health. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Suicide Awareness and Support Group was formed to deliver bereavement support to those bereaved by suicide and organise a bridging support structure for those recently bereaved, to provide intervention services for those at risk of suicide and to endeavour to raise the issue of suicide prevention to ultimately help reduce the suicide rate. This is
achieved through the delivery of the following services: - One to one counselling - Group therapy/counselling - Mental health/Suicide Prevention training - Advice and support sessions - Ongoing professional advice - Suicide Awareness raising initiatives
