Public benefits
The direct benefits flowing from planned purpose of ‘improving diagnosis and treatment’ is the improved outcome and future for those suffering from the conditions and reducing the likelihood of permanent physical or mental damage from the conditions PANDAS and PANS. Quicker diagnosis and treatment means parents are better supported by medical staff
and not as stressed at having to fight for acceptance therefore leading to better outcomes in physical health and mental health for both patient and parent/carer. There is no private Benefit flowing from this purpose. The direct benefits that flow from the charity’s planned purpose of building public awareness, gathering data and resources will be better informed families and carers of those with PANDAS and PANS and more knowledgeable professionals in the medical community who currently have never heard of the conditions or know very little about them. Particularly GP’s who are the primary carers working with the families. If they are able to recognise these conditions in children earlier it leads to a much better outcome and support for the family and patient. There is no private benefits flowing from this purpose. The direct benefits that flow from the charity’s planned purpose of providing family support for example in the form of counselling are the mental well being of the parents and carers, which flows onto a benefit for the sufferers if those caring for them and avocating for them feel stronger, supported and more able to care for the patient. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose. The Charity plans to monitor its progress and success of delivering on its purposes through feedback from the families it will be supporting and regular evaluation of its services. The charity can not determine any potential harm arising from it’s purposes and plan to keep this determination under review to ensure it remains accurate. Families and carers living in Northern Ireland with children who have a diagnosis of PANDAS or PANS, are pursuing a diagnosis or suspect their child may have either of the conditions. Medical professionals searching for further knowledge and information on the conditions. The charity cannot find any private benefit flowing from any of our purposes.
