the direct benefits flowing from the organisations purpose are: - An Increase in the number of confident and empowered young people - Enhanced knowledge, skills and understanding in young people making them more employable -Improved community life and better community relations amongst young people and between them and wider society - Realistic

understandings developed amongst young people of the benefits of an open and inclusive society and the importance of being able to accept and live with difference. - Improved relationships between young people and various stakeholder groups in society - The voices of marginalised and disengaged young people being heard - The provision of the necessary support to allow young people to participate in civic and democratic society, the workplace and community and voluntary structures. These benefits can be evidenced by a reduction in youth unemployment, an increase in educational attainment, increased opportunities for employment, a reduction in community tensions and anti-social behaviours and a more inclusive and restorative community There is no harm arising from these purposes. The charity's beneficiaries are young people, families and the wider community. There is no private benefit.

What your organisation does

Strabane AYE will carry out it’s purpose using activities such as peer group workshops, one to one mentoring, advocacy on behalf of young people and/or their family whilst engaging with Statutory Agencies, Teambuilding and recreational outings, organising work placements with employers, work readiness preparations and the provision of financial

support for individual skills enhancement, the provision of employment and benefits advice, organising wider community events and festivals for the promotion of inclusion and building relationships. Whilst primarily engaging with young people, Strabane AYE will carry out work surrounding the wider issues in a young person’s life such as family engagement and intervention and support work.

Charitable purposes

Strabane AYE is established to engage with young people suffering from the effects of disaffection, marginalization and poverty and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the local community on a regional basis by associating the Statutory Authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to improve the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: • Engage with disaffected young people to develop their potential for participation, identifying their needs as well as developing their awareness as to the perceptions of local communities and the impact of their actions to give them opportunities to build a sense of belonging and of civic pride. • To assist in the relief of poverty by the promotion, facilitation and organization of adequate, accessible and quality programmes of vocational and educational training, information and support in an effort to acquire skills and retraining to assist the beneficiaries in obtaining employment. • Build strategic Community Development processes to youth engagement, strengthening the focused efforts and engagements with a range of key stakeholders allowing for a basis for collaboration between a range of agencies and partners. • Build cohesion within and between young people, communities, statutory bodies and political representatives; encouraging excluded young people to play a more active and civic role within their communities and providing the dynamic to move forward in a positive manner towards building an inclusive, shared, fair and just society
