Public benefits

The benefits which flow from this organisation's purposes is the improved mental health of the members, the opportunity to meet with others and to build community spirit and connections. The reduction in the feelings of loneliness and isolation experienced by elderly members especially those who live alone. The benefits flowing from the

organisation’s purposes can be demonstrated by the numbers attending the club and feedback/ evaluation from beneficiaries - Since the club commenced three years ago the numbers attending has risen from 14 members to 78 members. The average weekly attendance is 50 and evaluation reports have indicated the importance of this club to the local community A potential harm that flows from the organisations purposes is the risk of allergic reaction to the food provided or injury carrying out some of the activities. To mitigate this all members provide information regarding allergies which are taken into consideration when providing lunch. All members complete a registration form indicating any physical conditions before taking part in the exercise activities.” The organisation’s beneficiaries are: People in the community over the age of 60 years from all social backgrounds and religious affiliation. There is a potential private benefit to volunteers - volunteers are trained in health and hygiene and first aid. This can be of benefit to them should they wish to volunteer for another club. This is incidental and necessary to the carrying out of the organisations purposes.

What your organisation does

This organisation exists to combat the issues of loneliness and isolation which can have a detrimental effect on the mental health of the elderly population in a rural community. For two hours every week we provide activities such as craft sessions, exercise, and informative talks relevant to the older population. Each session finishes with a

nourishing lunch.
