Public benefits

The benefits which flow from the advancement of these purposes through singing include: • an ability to perform a wide variety of repertoire to a very high standard • the exploration of different cultures through music • a range of performance opportunities These benefits will be demonstrated through audience responses to public performances,

feedback from visiting choral directors, success at international events and regular independent evaluations of the type and quality of repertoire performed. When exploring or commissioning new works, care must always be taken to avoid any upset to choir members or audiences due to real or imagined cultural differences. However, the ability of music and song to transcend any such differences far outweighs the potential for harm that might occur as an unintended consequence. All those involved in the choir enjoy the social nature of the group. Many close friendships develop as a result of shared interests and the high level of commitment required for the group to achieve such high standard. Modest annual membership fees apply to cover cost of materials and hire of rehearsal venues. In addition, uniform, travel and accommodation costs may occur in relation to specific activities, performances or tours. In cases of exceptional hardship, all fees are waived. Private Benefit A private benefit arising as a result of Codetta’s activities is that of the Choir Director, Assistant Director and Accompanist, who are occasionally remunerated for their work with the choir. The Choir Director is also a trustee of the organisation.
