Public benefits
The benefits of our first primary purpose of promoting all aspects of agriculture and horticulture are wide ranging and incremental in encouraging members of our local society to appreciate the work of our farmers and those directly involved in this vital NI industry. On visiting our local show or in attendance at any event organised or promoted
by our association, we are striving to advance our communities understanding and interest in our industry and how we seek to protect our environment and improve it for future generations. In a further and related purpose of providing and organising agricultural shows and demonstrations, the direct benefits are clear for those in attendance. A vast array of visitors are allowed to experience practical, active agriculture and environmental stewardship. Those visiting are from both rural and urban areas, of a wide age range, from both sides of our traditionally divided communities and from both ends of our socio economic classes. The experience being offered by our hosting of the Ballymoney Show allows anyone to experience first hand our desire to improve our industry and the environment whilst also showcasing our animals which are kept to the very highest standards of welfare. In seeking to educate and make members of the public, of any age, understand their food chain and the entire farm to fork process, we shall hopefully strengthen our industry and environment for generations to come. In encouraging our local young farmers clubs to actively assume responsibility of organising our show and holding our main show office bearing positions, the connecting benefits are considerable and the empowerment of these young people is clear and evident to see. We have developed numerous local industry leaders through their experiences of responsibility; facilitated and encouraged through our association. The benefits of our association's work can be demonstrated each year by the 1000's of visitors who attend our show and our other relating events which are committed to promoting local agriculture in the area. We have a considerable following on our social media interaction with over 4,700 following our facebook page and investing in our story of education, environmental stewardship and showcasing of local NI agriculture. Our local press report frequently and considerably on our work and regularly interview our office bearers about ongoing work. We would like to be in a position to provide both quantitative and qualitative analytical data of those we are directly targeting and duly benefiting and as an association we would like to organise a survey of visitors to our show and other relating events. This shall be carried out this year. We would also like to officially document the impact of responsibility of these decision making roles on our younger members. We see no potential harm arising from any of our purposes. Our charities beneficiaries will firstly be members of the public who have an active interest in learning about agriculture, the environment and animal welfare/husbandry. Other beneficiaries shall be the young people in the young farmers clubs whom we are seeking to empower with roles and responsibilities. We don't perceive there as being any private benefits from any purpose.

North Antrim Agricultural Association's primary purpose is to organise and run the annual Ballymoney Show held on the first weekend of June each year. The association has primary responsibility of maintaining, upkeeping and developing the showground property to have it available and fit for purpose for the staging of the annual show. In
organising our show, we are attempting to showcase all that is good about our local agricultural industry and all those are actively involved within this traditional and culturally significant sector. So many aspects of agriculture and horticulture are on display at our event and we attempt to make this a learning experience for every visitor to our show. We have visitors from rural backgrounds of course but we do welcome many urban dwellers who have a significant thirst for knowledge and experience of NI agriculture and are keen to witness and be shown what agriculture really means to us all. One of the individual and unique aspects of our event and our association is that it is ran by a committee consisting of a special mix of ages, from 18 to 80+. Our show is unique to Northern Ireland in the fact that it is primarily organised by three local young farmers clubs. These clubs operate on a rotational chairmanship of our show committee and work seamlessly throughout the year in preparation for our primary event. Young people being empowered to make decisions and hold responsibility is core to the ethos of our association. The mix of ages on our committee ensures a cross generational interaction that works extremely well. In organising our show, we strive to ensure that the protection and sustenance of our special local rural environment is at the core of our showcase. We liaise with environmental conservationists and with a large number of farmers being involved in the running of our events, we seek to educate those visiting our show on rural life and culture.
